Teltrium is seeking a senior Aerospace Systems Engineer to lead the system engineering efforts for the spacecraft platform of a SmallSat Relay System in support of a NASA program. The ideal candidate will have expertise in satellite platform systems design, system integration, and space mission architectures. This role will involve working closely with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure the spacecraft bus meets mission requirements for power, thermal, propulsion, structural, and related subsystems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the system engineering development of the spacecraft bus for the SmallSat Relay System program.
- Define, manage, and verify spacecraft platform requirements for compliance with payload and mission needs.
- Oversee trade studies and feasibility assessments for spacecraft bus components, including power, thermal control, propulsion, and structural subsystems.
- Develop and validate SWaP (Size, Weight, and Power) estimates for the spacecraft bus and associated subsystems.
- Support integration and testing activities for spacecraft bus components to validate performance meets mission specifications.
- Collaborate with RF, software, and system engineering teams to enable integration of payload and bus systems.
- Ensure compliance with space environment standards, radiation tolerance, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical leadership in anomaly resolution and mission assurance activities.
- Generate technical documentation, reports, and system architecture designs.
Qualifications:
Education: Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Experience:
- 7+ years of experience in spacecraft bus design, satellite system integration, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of power, thermal, propulsion, and structural subsystems for small satellites.
- Experience with spacecraft system engineering processes, requirement management, and trade studies.
- Proficiency in simulation and modeling tools such as MATLAB and STK, Thermal Desktop, or similar.
- Knowledge of space environmental factors, including radiation and thermal effects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Role/Work Schedule:
This is a full-time, on-site position in Greenbelt, MD.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with small satellites and GEO satellite bus architectures.
- Familiarity with spacecraft assembly, integration, and testing (AI&T) processes.
- Hands-on experience with spacecraft hardware and environmental testing.
- Understanding of cybersecurity measures related to space systems.
- Experience with developing requirements and with risk management.
- Familiarity with the NASA project lifecycle.
